Street Photography can be defined as capturing chance encounters and random incidents. Typically, street photography is about capturing life in public areas. Regardless of the name, street photography does not have to be done on the streets. You can do street photography anywhere. For example, I live in St. Petersburg and I spent a lot time at the beach and downtown. One of my favorite places to shoot is on public transportation. You can always find great subjects on buses and trains. There's always something going on down town . The fact that you don’t live in a big city shouldn’t hold you back from starting your street photography adventure.

This project was based on using a flash on someone while being outside. Fill flash is a photographic technique used to brighten deep shadow areas. Typically outdoors on sunny days, though the technique is useful any time the background is significantly brighter than the subject of the photograph. Particularly in backlit subjects the object can still stand out when using a direct flash. We used an a umbrella so the light can bounce off it and reflect on the person.I had someone take different pictures of me doing different movements. My concept was to be the bear and I having a family photo. When you do multiple exposure you're creating numerous of pics but making them seem like one. This project was fun and I really enjoyed doing it.I like light room and you can edit pictures faster. When I was taking pictures of Ericka I used natural light. I took pictures of her in the same spot but in different poses. I made sure the light was bouncing off of her in the right way.Natural light photography is taking an picture using the light that exists all around us. I used different backgrounds to see how the flash reflected off the participants would look like. We used light that staged. I had to make sure there was no shadow showing in the backdrop. By using the light already naturally occurring around us you can create images that lend a natural feel to what our eyes are used to seeing every day whether you're aware or not.Natural light photography is taking an picture using the light that exists all around us. When taking natural light photos you need to make sure your background isn't too contrast. This can be direct sunlight, reflected sunlight or a surrounding sunlight. By using the light already naturally occurring around us you can create images that lend a natural feel to what our eyes are used to seeing every day whether you're aware or not.The techniques I used was Framing, View point, Diagonals, and Rule of thirds. I chose those techniques because I could look around and easily pick out what I was taking a picture of. The first picture represents diagonals because of the lines crossing over each other. I chose for Ericka to stand in the middle of a tree, to show that it whatever is in the middle is being focused on. I had to get low and aim the camera upwards to show "view point"; making Ericka seem more dominant over the world. The "rule of thirds'' makes the eye go straight to Ericka and the police car.
This class taught me that you can take pictures in depth of field. I really enjoyed taking pictures of this young man named Michael Snead. Depth of field is the distance between the nearest and furthest objects that give an image judged to be in focus in a camera. |
